Pregnant and Natural - Wash Two

posted on

My scalp was itching so very badly I had no choice but to co-wash and what a relief.

At first I thought it was the new products I was using. My neck was itching. My fave, my back, my legs...even some unmentionable places. I started my wash day on my sink and finished in the shower so naturally I would itch all over. And, boy, was I ever.

But, then again, I recall my scalp and face had been itching the entire pregnancy and I just thought it was changes due to this little one. So I began to research what allergens could be in the high porosity masque I was using from She Moisture. Nothing really jumped out but I did read accounts where  this brand left people with itchy scalps and one mentioned if you failed to wash it completely out, it could cause the itchies.  I'd rinsed the masque out over the Jacuzzi tub with the sprayer (don't judge), so maybe I missed some.

After my rinse the first time, I jumped in the shower and let the remnants of water drop as I showered. The only other product used was the Shea line of JBCO leave in and my EVAO with peppermint oil.

So this time I skipped the high porosity masque. In the shower, I co washed in sections with TRESemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture Conditioner with Aloe Vera & Avocado mixed with Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle Conditioner with Peppermint and Eucalyptus and Herbal Essence Hello Hydration (yes it has coconut oil in it). I scrubbed my scalp with this conditioner cause it was lying around. Almost immediately the itch was gone.

I finished off with the EVAO and JBCO leave in. For most of my head, I used oil then leave in. For the back, right quarter, I did the opposite and liked the feel better than the other combo. Also, I found that my hair was super easy to detangled and quite manageable. I left my hair in about eight twists.

All in all I may learn to not dread washing my hair.
