Day 16: I trust You, Lord. I am humble and called for Your purpose. 2 Chron 7:13-14
The Word of God says you are to humble yourselves.
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. James 4:10
Reread that. It says "humble yourself". Nowhere does it read that He will humble you or someone else can humble you (although some believe that by putting people through certain embarrassing experiences, it will humble them). You have to humble yourself. Nothing or no one else can do it for you. Experiences you may have can present opportunities to be humble and by practicing, you can grow to learn when pride is creeping in.
The act of trusting in God, itself, is one such experience that can assist you with becoming humbled. It causes you to rely on someone other than yourself to get things done. You see, greed and envy has led to pride throughout the Body of Christ. Are you too high up in 'office', that you've forgotten the Lord? Don't wait until you are going through something to remember Him. You shouldn't need that.
If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:13-14 KJV
Is this what it will take for you to realize that you need Him? Do you really want to wait until He has placed a cursed on the land before you kneel down and call out? You don't have to do this on your own. He's there for you. He's said all you have to do is humble yourself.
To humble yourself means to lower your own importance. Raising your importance is like spitting in God's eye. He, the maker of everything, doesn't need your help. He just need your trust. Put your pride aside and ask Him for help. He is your Jehovah Jireh, the great provider. It's taken care of. It's already done. Just sit back and receive it. Receive the peace that comes with it.
You see, living a prideful life takes work! You have to keep up the facade to maintain your level of importance. While it takes work to humble yourself, when you've accomplished this, He will raise you to levels you've never dreamed of and you can rest in Him. It's a promise. It's in the Word. Your work is done! The only thing you have to do to stay there is to remain humble.
So rest in knowing that you don't have to lift yourself up. He will elevate you to levels you've never conceived. Trust that He knows where you should be, and go their knowing He will be there as well. He will never leave you!
He's waiting with open arms for you to turn to Him with complete trust in His abilities. He's said He doesn't need your assistance. He simply needs your trust and obedience. Humble yourself and know that he will do the rest.
Selah,
